Job Opportunity: Design Manager
Location: Hybrid role – a mix of office, home, and site-based work (candidates must be within a 2-hour commute)
Salary Range: £65,000 - £85,000+ (commensurate with experience, higher range for fire remediation expertise)

Experience Required:
Minimum 5 years in cladding design, with fire remediation experience highly desirable
Are you a skilled design professional with expertise in cladding systems and a passion for fire safety? We are seeking a Design Manager to lead and deliver innovative, compliant, and high-quality solutions on projects that prioritize safety and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Oversee and manage designs for envelope cladding systems, ensuring materials and solutions meet the latest fire safety regulations.
  • Project Management: Coordinate design stages, ensuring deadlines are met while collaborating with architects, fire engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant standards and regulations, addressing fire remediation needs where applicable.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle design challenges during planning and on-site activities with innovative, practical solutions.
  • Technical Oversight: Utilize AutoCAD or similar software to guide design processes and manage deliverables.
  • Communication: Effectively liaise with design houses, consultants, and key project contributors to align objectives.
  • Budget Management: Manage costs, estimate budgets, and implement value engineering strategies to optimize project efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a design team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Key Skills & Requirements
  • Extensive technical knowledge of cladding systems and fire safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in project and design management within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in technical drawing tools such as AutoCAD or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated financial awareness, including budget management and cost estimation.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor and inspire team members.
